A suspected drunk driving accident in Georgia that killed a five-year-old child and her parents late last month is still under investigation by the Georgia State Patrol. Drunk Driver Crossed Center Line
According to Hart County Sheriff Mike Cleveland, the suspected DUI accident in Georgia took place at about 3:15 p.m. on November 28, near the Lavonia Speedway on Lavonia Highway. The alleged drunk driver, identified as 33-year-old Marco Tulio Hernandez Ramirez, was driving a van on the highway when he crossed the center line while negotiating a curve and struck another vehicle carrying a family from Franklin County. Jerry Cannon, 48, Katherine Cannon, 32, and their five-year-old daughter Rose Marie were all killed in the collision. According to police, the Cannon’s also have an 11-year-old child who was not in the car at the time of the accident.
Charges Filed Against Alleged Drunk Driver
In the aftermath of the deadly head-on collision in Georgia, Ramirez was hospitalized with back injuries that were reported to be non-life-threatening, and according to the Hart County Sheriff’s Office, the man now faces numerous charges stemming from the fatal Georgia car accident, including DUI, failure to maintain lane, and three counts of felony homicide by vehicle. In addition to criminal charges, the alleged drunk driver may also face a civil lawsuit filed on behalf of the Cannon family, in which financial compensation may be sought for the deaths of Jerry, Katherine and Rose Marie.
